Where to Start As a Beginner in Online Marketing

So you fancy trying to make money online? If you've already researched online marketing you'll know that there is so much information out there and not all of it straightforward, especially for a beginner. To coin a simple phrase "it's a jungle out there!" I'd like to give you some very simple tips to point you in the right direction.

You need to have the right mindset from the beginning and keep it throughout your progression. You have to realise that the 'get rich quick' schemes don't work, so don't fall for the "pay me some money and you'll be earning thousands within a day". You really have to put a lot of work into this before making some money, and if you do it will pay off big time.

There is a lot of help out there for beginners if you look for it and there are plenty of free ebooks to download on the subject of online marketing. When you do get up and running you may well be giving out your own ebook! Go ahead and download the ebooks, I've learned a lot from the majority of them. As you will soon discover though, you don't get nothing for nothing - so after downloading the ebooks you will receive lots of follow up emails. If you're not interested, simply unsubscribe, you won't be hurting anyone! However, you may wish to keep going with the information offered - gauge it well.

There are many different ways to make money online through internet marketing, so this is another choice you have to make - which method are you going to use? Will you be using your own product or promoting someone else's? Again, there is lots of information out there to help you decide - do some research and make the choice before you start.

You don't have to be an expert on the computer, but if you're a beginner at internet marketing, then there are quite a few web skills you will have to learn about - how to build a website and get a domain name, using an autoresponder, traffic generating - and that's just a smidgen of the things you may have to learn. Again, if you're completely new to this you won't know what any of this means, so how do you learn?

1. You need to find someone who can teach you, someone who's been doing this very successfully and making money online for a while now. You need to look for a step by step guide on what you need to do - there are quite a few out there so you need to decide what's best for you. I was a total beginner and found a very good teacher and although I haven't been at this for very long, I have acquired a huge amount of information and it's starting to pay off.

2. You really have to work at it as I said at the start of this article - you need to learn stage by stage and put all your newly acquired skills into building a successful business - it is possible if you're prepared to work and be patient - it won't happen overnight!

3. Keep at it and try not to lose heart! Once you've got things up and running you'll maybe want to do more and branch out into other areas. When your business is established you'll only need to spend an hour or so a day keeping tabs on it, so the patience is worth it!

Above all - have fun, enjoy the experience and make lots of new friends!!

Pay Per Click or PPC Is Not Typically a Good Beginners Online Marketing Strategy

This is not a good beginners' method unless you have a high aptitude for risk. That's not because using pay per click has to be risky business, but it does require knowing which keywords are effective at attracting qualified leads and how much you can spend on acquiring them, while still remaining profitable. Of course, to calculate that, you need to know your conversion rate, the number of unique visitors divided by total dollar sales, which equals the value per unique visitor. Unfortunately, due to a lack of existing marketing feedback and low or non-existent sales, accurate information can be hard to come by early in the game. This is why you should wait until you have had at least a few months of substantial sales before attempt this.

Here's what you need to know in order to make a smart calculated risk using pay per click advertising:

• Value per visitor to your site (unique visitor - not to be confused with user sessions)

• What your Website logs tell you about your conversion rate and what keywords people are using to find you.

• What profit margin you are comfortable with. Unless you are ready to accept losing money on entry-level products/service, then you must always bid below your value per unique visitor. Ideally, you want to find keywords that people are using to find your site but that is still relatively unpopular with the other bidders so that you can "buy" cheap traffic for well under your value per unique visitor, leaving a substantial profit margin for you.

There are only a couple of heavyweights in the pay per click industry. They are Google AdWords, Yahoo Search Market (formerly Overture), and trailing behind them MSN Ad Center. Of these three, you probably won't be surprised to hear that Google holds a strong lead with more than half of the market and growing.

Although these search engines clearly have a dramatic lead over the competition there are still other PPC search engines worth mentioning: SearchFeed, Ask.com, Marchex AdHere, LookSmart, Miva, ABCSearch, 7Search, and Findology.

Most people think of Yahoo Search Market (formerly Overture) or Google when it comes to paying per click advertising, but you may also want to consider smaller PPC search engines. Some studies have shown over half of the response for only a third of the price, but it has also been reported that smaller PPC search engines do not generate the same quality of leads so you need to be careful. If you bid and win keywords from a smaller search engine at a great value, it still can be a good way to increase your traffic profitably.

If your bid "wins" a keyword at any search engine, but you do not get very many "click-throughs" (relative to the competition), you will lose your top placement. This is to ensure that only relative links are posted in the top positions, and of course to ensure maximum profits for the search engine since they only get paid when someone clicks on your ad.

Top 5 Reasons Why Affiliate Marketing Is the Ideal Business Model for Beginner Online Marketers

Affiliate marketing is one of the most popular and easiest ways to get started for those looking to make money online. The main reasons for this are that affiliate marketing:

- doesn't require you to have your own product

- doesn't require copywriting or sales conversion expertise

- provides fluidity with products that are available to promote

- requires little to no expense to get started

- is great for testing markets

The primary reason why affiliate marketing is great for those new to online marketing is that you don't need your own product. You don't have to worry about analyzing a market to see what kind of product they want, you won't have to spend time developing a product which could take months, and nor do you have to allocate precious non-income-producing time to supporting a product.

Copywriting is one of the most difficult and coveted skills for online marketers. Good copywriters can earn thousands of dollars for a single sales letter, but of course, it has to perform well. It takes a lot of time to learn how to craft a sales letter, and if you were to outsource your copy for your product, you would have to pay a pretty penny for something that is decent quality. With affiliate marketing, you don't need to worry about. You can choose to promote proven products that sell well, have good copy and have an optimized sales conversion process. Most affiliate networks have stats on all products so you can see which are performing well.

Affiliate marketing is fluid in that there is a wide range of products at your disposal, and you can move from one to next quickly. You can be promoting golf products one week and online floral services the next. For almost anything that is sold online, you can pretty much find an affiliate program for it. This allows you to test a wide variety of products to see which ones work best and to see which niches you have a knack of doing well in.

Because there are free traffic methods available, you can get started in affiliate marketing with little to no expense involved. You can work on driving search engine or social media traffic to your affiliate sites or directly to the vendor through your affiliate link, for free. You can even get started with paid traffic methods with very little expense, and then scale up once you have proven campaigns that are profitable.

If you are looking to penetrate a market and perhaps develop your own product down the line, affiliate marketing is great for testing markets. You can see which types of products a market likes prior to development. Do they prefer DVDs, ebooks, membership sites, online videos, or physical products? By promoting a few different types of affiliate products, and you can see which type of traffic converts best, whether it is search engine traffic, banner traffic, or social media traffic. Most importantly, you can see whether a market is even viable prior to committing time and expense towards your own product.

So these are the top five reasons why affiliate marketing would be the perfect way for you to get started in internet marketing. The main reason people fail in this business is that they do not take the required action, so make sure you get started with picking a product to promote and then work on getting search engine, social media or cheap paid traffic to your offer. Once you find that initial success, the rest becomes easier.

5 Online Marketing Tips For Beginners

Unfortunately, like a lot of things in life, it is way too easy to get overwhelmed with all the stuff you need to learn to be successful marketing online. If you are not careful you will find yourself jumping from the latest "you beaut" product to the next and ultimately find yourself burnt out with information overload and nothing other than a full hard drive of digital products to show for your efforts.

Here are my five online marketing tips for beginners.

1. Find a marketing product or system that interests you and stick with it. Do not worry most systems will produce some results. Cancel all your email subscriptions if they distract you from your work or even worse tempt you into trying something else.

2. Take your time to learn your chosen marketing product or system as it will be a good grounding for your future marketing ventures. Stick with it and do not go from one system to the next because you are not a millionaire in 7 days or whatever the system promised in the sales letter. Short of a big lottery win this rarely happens, especially to beginners.

3. Do not just read the manual or watch the videos but take action. Stop reading the manual or stop the video and do those steps you read about or watched before you go on to the next step. OK, your website looks ugly or your new eBook has lots of blank pages but remember you are not going to be a success overnight, so do not expect to be.

4. Write down what you do so that you know what you did when something works then you can easily do it again. Your notes will also help work out where you went wrong and how you can fix it. Not only that your notes are original content so can form the beginnings of a future ebook, articles or video. OK, back to the reality that a dream can wait.

5. Create value in everything do by adding your ideas and original content. Step back and ask yourself would you read it or buy it. If someone buys a product they will not like it if it is just has a new title and shiny new digital cover and they have read it a dozen times before. This may be acceptable for giveaway products but it creates more value if you have something unique to give away as well.

What Every New Online Marketer Needs To Know

We all wonder what our ultimate business potential is. Will we succeed in our endeavours or will we be left back at the drawing board looking for the new ideas? If you are an internet marketing novice you might be overwhelmed with the wealth of knowledge available online, and doubting whether you can master the skills needed to be successful in this business. While it's true that not everyone who starts out in internet marketing will ultimately succeed, you can if you put your mind to it. All it takes is hard work and learning the right information.

When you start to gather the information you should first take everything you read online with a grain of salt. While it's true that there is a ton of valuable knowledge to be found for free on the internet, there is also a lot of misinformation out there and it can often be difficult to tell the difference between quality info and garbage. Be open to hearing advice from everyone, but do your own due diligence and learn to spot the genuine guidance from the B.S.

As a beginner, you will probably be excited to learn as much as possible. Use this enthusiasm to your advantage and check out as many resources as possible. Online marketing and SEO forums are a great place to start and they are filled with veteran marketers who have plenty of knowledge to share, as well as honest feedback. These are people much like you, who were beginners at some point too. Don't be afraid to ask questions - no one will think you're foolish if you ask something simple and straightforward.

The main concern of a beginner online marketing professional should be establishing who your target audience is. These are the people who will show the most interest in what you're offering and will deliver a higher conversion rate. Too many green marketers make the mistake of casting their net too wide and not focusing on the percentage of consumers who will bring the most profit. Niche marketing is the heart of online commerce and will allow you to make the most money with a reasonable amount of effort and time.

With the right information and a great deal of hard work and determination, you can turn your online business into a gateway to financial success. The keys are right there and ready for the taking, as long as you know where to look!

Beginner Online Marketing Tips - Creating Ebooks For Promotional Purposes

How many ebooks have you read this year? More importantly, why haven't you read more? With the introduction of Kindle and the iPad, there's no denying the value of electronic books in the consumer marketplace. Ebooks have become an essential part of online marketing and info-marketing. In addition to marketing and business, ebooks can be found in every category of printed works. You can now read your favourite novel or book of poetry in eBook form.

Ebooks are a perfect venue for conveying ideas, inspiration, and expertise. If you're not yet familiar with this medium, you'll be much better acquainted by the end of this article.

As an online marketer, you're probably used to downloading ebooks about affiliate marketing or how to win the search engine optimization game. After completing dozens of books in this format, have you ever stopped to wonder why you haven't created your own?

Think about this: Every minute another child is born. Actually, some reports suggest a child is born every 5 seconds. Think about what this means to an online marketer. Every day, the numbers of people using computers are growing. It's fast becoming an essential part of everyday life. So, as an online marketer, your audience is growing exponentially. One of the fastest and most effective ways to reach your next client is through eBook marketing.

You could start with a small report of a dozen pages or go for a hundred-page book on your area of expertise. You can even get someone else to write it for you. The possibilities are endless.

Gone are the days when you had to approach a hundred publishers, wait until they got around to reading your proposal, and wading through piles of rejection letters in hopes of finding one, solid offer. Today, you can write an article, report, or book in your Microsoft Word program. With a simple, free download, you can export your finished product as a PDF document. How's that for immediate gratification?

After you've created your own ebook, the fun has just begun. You can offer it for sale and your customer will receive it instantly. You can arrange payment through PayPal and direct them to a download page. There's nothing for you to ship or worry about. Also, if you decide to update or revise, you simply open the original document, make your changes, and republish the eBook with your new changes intact.

The best part of creating an eBook is that it can be done for free and distributed instantaneously. How many other mediums can offer this kind of flexibility? While your competitors are waiting for their brochures at the printer, you've already created and uploaded your new eBook to the internet.

Ebooks have lasting value. They can be easily stored and distributed. They have a limitless shelf-life. I keep several marketing ebooks on my computer hard drive to access whenever I need. There's no rifling through a file cabinet to find a printed report.

The ease and potential are astounding. The next time you download an ebook, take a moment and consider how this medium could be taking your business to the next level.

Why Do Most Beginner Online Marketers Fail?

I am going to talk about a topic today that many online affiliate marketers never discuss.

I am going to tell you the top reasons why affiliate marketers fail and never start making money online while getting their businesses started.

Why Do Affiliate Marketers Fail?

Before I explain why affiliate marketers fail, we must first cover a few reasons why they are successful! So what are top earners online doing that most others are not?

 1. Failing their way to the top! You may have heard before that most successful people fail more than everybody else. And I am living proof of this. I failed over 4 years and spent well over $5,000 on marketing classes, courses, and education prior to making my first dollar. If you want to succeed, you must get comfortable with failure, and allow it to keep you motivated!

2. Keep it Simple Most marketing funnels are very basic: Drive traffic to a lead capture page and follow up. Offer solutions to the problems that people are having while building a relationship. Once your audience trusts you, they will buy.

3. Understand that Marketing trial and error. Marketing is a process of trial and error. You need to test things, see what works, and invest in the successful campaigns. You will lose money in some errors during a discovery phase, but you then recoup those lost funds in the successful campaigns. Losing money is not always bad - just as long as you know why you are losing on your campaigns and you can adjust to make your campaigns profitable.

Most people start losing money in an advertising campaign and quit. This is the top reason most people never get past the failure point with their businesses.

Why Affiliate Marketers Fail

1. They do not have a coach or mentor. If you look at literally every successful online marketer - they all have coaches. Do you? If not, I'd recommend getting involved with some program that has masterminds, 1-on-1 coaching, and mentorships. Yes, it may cost money - but it is worth it! If not, you can always stick to what you're currently doing and see if your results change (Did you ever hear of the "definition of insanity?" Doing the same thing and expecting different results!)

2. They shy away from paid traffic There are lots of eBooks, videos, and education programs telling you about the number of ways to get free traffic with blogging, viral eBooks, videos, etc. However, the #1 fastest method to start making money and growing your business is paid traffic. Period!

3. They jump from different training programs without making them work The online marketing world is intimidating as each marketer is trying to get your dollars. After you do your diligent research and find a program that you think is reputable, spend literally 6 months perfecting and learning everything you can about the program until it works.

As I mentioned earlier, this program should also give you access to a mentor. As part of my business, I'm spending 5 hours per week with my own coach, in addition to multiple hours helping beginners. So I am on both sides of this coach-trainee relationship. If you have a coach, plus you stick to one training program, you should start to see results. However, as I mentioned, most people never get this far which leads to failure.
